Perfect Captures Photography

It’s A Glamorous Affair

In a previous blog I talked about the world of emotion and how the photographer captures that split second of emotion of joy or despair. Now I am going to take you to the less glamorous side of the game where again, the camera captures that split second of event. Everyone remembers that famous moment when David Beckham vomited 3 times on the pitch during world cup 2006 in Germany from dehydration and still went onto scoring the winner in order to put England through to the quarter finals. This is where football shows it’s true colours. I luckily have not come across vomit as of yet but I have caught the glamorous moments of spitting out water, spit and now mucus.

It is actually a common thing if you ask any sports person, professional or not as your body builds up in mucus which you need to dispense.

According to Sciencefocus.com, ‘studies show the increase in protein secreted into saliva, especially a kind of mucus called MUC5B. This mucus makes Saliva thicker which makes it harder to swallow which leads to spitting it out.

Thank goodness the casual fan will not pick up on such things as you are to far from the subject but when it comes to the close up, you see so much more then you want to. Again, the photographer is bringing an even closer relationship with said player and taking of the fan tinted glasses, showing that our hero’s are still human.

Personally, I find it gross but also fascinating at the same time because it brings into reality the kind of physical strain a professional athlete puts on their bodies every day.
