Puffins

£175.00

I have been blessed with traveling to some wondrous places on the planet but sometimes you forget what is on your doorstep. My travels this time have kept me local on the British Isles where I have discovered a new land that holds a place in my heart.

Every year the North Atlantic Puffin flocks down to the Island of Skomer where they will breed and raise their young until they are ready to travel back to Iceland and the North Atlantic where they will spend much of their time in the cold Ocean. This year, over 42,000 Puffins were recorded visiting the Island of Skomer.

Puffins spend much of their time alone or with their mated pair. Puffins mate for life and during breeding season they will show their affection through what is called Billing, where they will rub their beaks together in what you could say, a ritual dance.

Capturing this moment was a special experience as the sense of love was so powerful and the beautiful lighting and the bokeh surroundings conveyed the feeling of what I felt.
